in order that a decision may be reached in consultation with Mr. Colman. The qualifications needed seem to us to be
(a) legal experience - we think, particularly
in handling Leases, conveyancing, eto.
(b) preferably but not essentially
(1) experience of China or better still
of Hong Kong, and
(11) port experience.
We should be most grateful for your views on this and for any help you can give us in suggesting the names of suitable men. As to the question of salary, the sort of figure we have in mind is £1,000 per annum while in this country and 21, 200 per annum in Hong Kong. In addition to a Secretary we visualise that it will be necessary for Colman to have an engineer on his staff in due course, but for the present we think that Rouse of the Hong Kong Planning Unit can look after this side.
